A-B-C
copyright
It is the right to ownership of
literary and artistic works. And by extension giving fair credit to the
words and ideas of others when paraphrasing and using quotes for
criticism and illustration of ones own work, and asking for permission
when extensive reliance on the work of another is used. Common knowledge
needs no citation. Such as a small contingent under General Custer was
mowed down by an army of Native Americans at Little Big Horn in 1876. I
will be citing my work directly after the reference as such, in an
informal style. from Merriam-Webster 1993, and Chicago Manual of Style
1993.
Adherence to the principle of
copyright is a test of moral character, as copyright is largely about
honor. But words and ideas combine to form new words and ideas, and it
is the duty of any author or artist to give credit to any direct
reliance on the work of another, as a matter of honor. As for this
glossary, watch for my date-time stamp, and perhaps peruse some of my
references for that week, much of my inspiration comes from reading
daily news.
